Clinical Laboratory
Originated with only 6 technicians in 1988, Department of Clinical Laboratory currently is collaborating with 5 divisions including general hematology & clinical microscopic examination, biochemistry, seroimmunology, blood bank, and microbiology. We have a total of 24 staff to provide 24-hour laboratory services to outpatients, inpatients and emergency, as well as our primary care centers at Ann-Pin and Ann-Nan Districts of Tainan and Gang-shan Hospital in Kaohsiung County. In addition, our department cooperates with Tainan City Health Bureau in colorectal cancer prescreening program, hepatitis B virus screening and other major disease prevention programs.
1. The General Hematology & Clinical Microscopic Examination Division provides OPD phlebotomy, specimen handling and identification, general clinical laboratory and electrocardiography services. The tasks of this division include routine and stat hematological, urine and body fluid analysis and microscopic examination.
2. Biochemistry Division provides biochemical examinations such as liver function tests, renal function tests, blood lipid, cholesterol, blood sugar, and electrolyte.
3. Seroimmunology Division provides various serological tests, including allergy testing, endocrine testing, indicators of various hepatitis, tumor markers screening and enzymes, etc.
4. Blood Bank performs ABO and RH typing, antibody screening, preparation and management of blood transfusion and advisory for blood transfusion.
