Message from Superintendent
In 1988, president Min-Ho Huang devoted his efforts to taking over Taiwan’s first Rehabilitate-Operating-Transfer hospital, Tainan Municipal Hospital. The hospital prospered under his guidance as he employed proficient staff and invested in advanced medical equipment at any cost. With the joint efforts of the president, former superintendents and every comrade, along with the supervision of the Tainan City government, Tainan Municipal Hospital has won wide recognition in both professional medical care and community healthcare, and become a premiere hospital in the public’s opinion. For me, taking over as the superintendent is like gladly accepting a "fertile field". It’s important to continue providing good care and sowing good seeds, so that the municipal hospital, this "fertile field", will continue to flourish. On the other hand, I feel it is also a great responsibility because we must pass on the legacy and strive for excellence, in order to establish a solid foundation for the sustainable operation of the hospital. Therefore, step by step, embracing both inheritance and innovation, I will nurture Tainan Municipal Hospital for enduring growth.

First, we must make efforts to continue providing patient-centered, first class and efficient healthcare services, and establish a safe and friendly healthcare environment. At the same time, with care and communication as the foundation, focus on the rights of employees and provide a friendly and reassuring work environment for our colleagues, taking care of their body, mind and spirit.

Second, Tainan Municipal Hospital is a regional hospital. For a long time, we have been involved in the development of the community, held health promotion events, utilized the concept and model of mobile education, and reached out into the community to promote healthy living and disease prevention. In the future, apart from continuing to play the role of an outstanding guardian of community health, we also hope to serve as a mediator for the cooperation of health institutions of all levels, implement two-way referral mechanisms between primary care clinics, district hospitals and medical centers, and establish close collaborative and interactive relationships, allowing medical resources to be sufficient, appropriately used and not to be wasted.

Furthermore, as the first Rehabilitate-Operating-Transfer hospital in Taiwan, we must fully cooperate with the central and local governments, implement various medical and healthcare policies, and become the finest partner for Tainan City government’s Department of Health. Tainan Municipal Hospital will definitely not avoid our duties. Regarding the policies of the health authorities, we will stand at the frontline and provide the most efficient and effective medical support at any given time, and take on the responsibility of caring for the public’s health.

Finally, we must actively establish and strengthen multidimensional collaborations with medical centers and various academic institutions. We hope to become a hub for the sharing of resources, refine our professional skills, elevate our academic standing, and strive to create complementary advantages and multi-win situations for the medical academic environment.

The healthcare industry should be ethical. Not only do professional skills need to be continually refined, holistic care also needs to be emphasized, as well as using empathy to care for the patients. Whether it’s doctor-patient relationships or administrative operations, listening and communicating is the first step to overcoming differences, while staying true to your roots is the key to insisting on quality and ideals. My comrades, the future needs your concerted efforts. Remember our humble beginnings, communicate and come together, as we create a new era at Tainan Municipal Hospital.
