The outpatient department was designed with a humanity-oriented tone to rid the rigid feel of the conventional treatment centers. The outpatient area is equipped with 24-hour automatic blood pressure measuring gauge, which is available for the public. In search of excellence for healthcare quality, our hospital do not hesitate to invest a large sum in introducing sophisticated, advanced medical instruments and equipment. The Radiology Department had installed a high-speed computerized tomographic (CT) scan, which is a novel crystallization of the wisdom of science and technology. It could provide high-resolution medical diagnostic imaging on the cranial/spinal nervous systems, abdominal solid organs, thoracic tumor nidus, and macroangiopathy. The new CT scans for outpatient and emergency department can also provide faster and high-resolution medical diagnostic image. We also renew the magnetic resonance imaging scan with high resolution, multiplanar, safe and radiation-free modality. The new all-digital mammography is a new tool for breast examinations and provides a precise diagnosis of doctors to confirm the lesion.

As our second cardiac catheterization laboratory set up, the GE Innova-2000 instrument was introduced. This machine provides our patients professional and accurate diagnosis and treatment for cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases. The Urology Department imported the second latest extracorporeal shock-wave lithotriptier from Germany in treatment patients with urinary stones without hospitalization or open surgery, yet with fast recovery and effectiveness. The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology further introduces the latest diagnostic machine, including the carbon-3 pyloric bacteria breath analyzer test and capsule endoscopy. The latter one may relieve patients from the discomfort in the examination of digestive diseases and further arriving at a more humane health care.

The Department of Gastroenterology, in conjunction with Department of Radiology introduced Toshiba all-digital color ultrasound scanner SSA-790A. Guided by the latest ultra-high-end image quality of this ultrasound product, radio frequency ablation (RFA) could be performed as the new weapon for the treatment of liver cancer.

The foresaid superior performance and cutting-edge technology of medical equipments will provide physicians with accurate diagnoses, together with superb medical skill, and will restore the health of patients with a strong guarantee.

The hospital spared no expense in introducing the capsule endoscopy imported by Given Imaging Corp. to Taiwan. Currently, the capsule endoscopy is primarily adopted to diagnose small intestinal lesions that appear with chronic blood loss or hemorrhage from the gastrointestinal tract that cannot be detected by upper and lower bowel endoscopic studies or nuclear scanning. With its characteristic of highly sensitivity and non-invasion, capsule endoscopy can locate the lesion resulting symptoms of blood loss and therefore the physicians can proceed to proper treatment. This equipment can also provide diagnostic reference to small bowel intestine diseases such as small bowel tumor and enteritis.

We did not stint on the budget to introduce the first 64-slice ultra-speed CT scan in Southern Taiwan. It takes only 5 seconds to complete cardiovascular examination, and is the new weapon for screening the heart, lung and colorectal cancer.

Cardiac catheterization has always been the main tool for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease. Patients should be hospitalized and must suffer from certain degree of risk and side effects to receive arterial puncture, which will result in patients with psychological stress and in turn regard this examination as a dangerous choice to take. Nevertheless, the 64-slice CT scanner has emerged as a brand new choice in cardiovascular examination. Patients could be free from fear to cardiac catheterization and from post operative bed-ridden.

We also have continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMH); Medtronic, Inc. With fast and comfortable injection tube, consecutive several days’ surveillance data could acquire through high-tech detector and software analysis. In response to a high degree of myopia caused by an aging population and the population increased in patients with retinopathy, we introduced TOPCON fundus stereoscopic 3D CT scan analyzer (OCT). By the accuracy and AMD features of laser, the leading international optical tomography scan imaging technology will provide the retina tomography images, and thus substantial increase in the diagnosis of retinal disease. It is the few diagnostic examination instruments in dealing with fundus optic nerve, retinal nerve fiber layer, and the macular function of three kinds of diagnostic measuring instruments.
